Pecard

Pecard can be skipped, as you have to go out of your way to find him, and the information he shares about the Lost Continent and the Tree Palace can be found elsewhere.  It’s almost certain that more was intended but cut short due to Secret of Mana’s rocky development.  The Official Setting Guide says that Pecard is an explorer with an interest in ancient civilizations.

Localization Notes

• Pecard is indeed Picard (another French name) in the Japanese version, and is clearly a reference to the famous character, as Star Trek: The Next Generation was localized for Japan.
