This groovy alternate field theme sets a different mood for the area around Gaia’s Navel. It’s improvisatory from the start with a variety of hypothetical soundmakers showing off their instruments in a satisfying way. It’s also as effective as Into the Thick of It in how it complements the action on the landscape. The remake, not surprisingly, buries the theme and its character beneath a backing track that’s not as fun as the original but makes for a good dance tune. Don’t ask me why, but it feels like something from an older SimCity game as you get your zones and power going. There are some very interesting harmonic upgrades, however, especially in the bridge. Elements from both versions could easily be combined for a nice experience.
