This is used as the theme for Matango, and the straightforward percussive style integrates well with the muted colors of the otherworldly mushroom country. When entering Matango from the Upper Land, an extremely pleasant reverb is added for the short passage, and is not heard anywhere else. This is despite the fact that this passage is part of the larger Dragon Cave, which unremarkably uses Into the Thick of It everywhere but here. The remake’s Dancing Animals is a prolonged rock jam that ironically sounds like something closer to 1993 than 2018. Kikuta had this to say:
It makes reference to the rhythm of music heard from various South Pacific Islander tribes. By combining different kinds of rhythms (poly-rhythm), I was able to create a different kind of sound.”
